Haro

Haro Bikes has been around in the basic BMX bikes sector. They released their free-coaster when there was a lot of initial rush into the idea. It was based off of the Odyssey (or some other one, either way, it was the same thing). However, it suffered from quite a few problems with materials.

Here is an internal view of the hub… You can see the springs. They are two pieces that rub against the axle to create the resistance. Unfortunately, this type of system works very consistently if there is a lot of resistance, but feels really rough. That is one of the reasons that it did not fair well in the market.
