G-Sport

G-sport is one of the most respected companies in BMX today. George French, the owner and designer of G-sport has worked very hard promoting his hubs. They gained great notoriety throughout the BMX community for their incredible strength and innovative designing. A couple years ago, G-sport became part of the Odyssey BMX family. This finally allowed George to be able to produce products that he has been kicking around in his head for quite some time now. As we have seen, this has led to some great products (Elementary stem, Wombolt Cranks, Ribcage rims…). The agreement with Odyssey was that products that fell under the wheel category (rims, spokes, pegs, hubs, etc.) would be under the G-sport name. While all other products would be considered Odyssey.

George had the coaster laced up and on his bike at Interbike several years ago.

A couple of patents have been filed by George during the course of designing his coaster.  Here is a picture of the first one:

As you can see, it uses a radially engaging “cam” driver mechanism.  The next patent shows that it was changed to use a dual cam system.
